Fertility optimization

Pelvic Rehab Approach

Treating fertility is a collaborative approach between Pelvic Rehab Providers, Reproductive Endocrinologists, OBGYN’s, Mental Health Providers, Functional Providers, Wellness professionals and Nutritionists/Dietitians. Building a team leads to better outcomes.

What does a Physical Therapist trained in Fertility Optimization focus on?

Not all Pelvic Floor Therapists have training to treat fertility issues. At Kansas Pelvic Health & Wellness, Dr. Megan Bengtson, DPT, PCES has taken the Pelvic Rehab Fertility Specialist Certification. This program is a robust course over 12 weeks, including lecture and teaching from Endocrinologists, OBGYN’s, Primary Care Physicians Naturopathic Doctor/Nutritionist and Physical Therapists that are advancing the field of fertility in pelvic health.

After completing course work, Dr. Megan was trained in gentle, holistic, non-invasive fertility treatment involving visceral pelvic mobilizations that bring blood flow to the pelvic organs, improve organ mobility, restore blood flow in the pelvis, release restriction and potential adhesions. This technique helps to optimize the health and function of the reproductive organs. These techniques can be beneficial for women of all ages facing fertility challenges as well as for women dealing with PCOS, Endometriosis, Interstitial Cystitis and Chronic Pelvic Pain.

In addition, Dr. Megan has training on proper labs to follow, education to guide patients on their fertility tracking, hormone education, basic nutritional education with the additional help of Registered Dietitian, Kate Morgan, for counsel and proper supplement support. We work with our patients’ providers to optimize fertility goals and outcomes.
